Health Care

HEALTH CARE: THE PRICE IS RIGHT?
Should health care be a right for all or a privilege for some? This workshop engages participants in interactive activities that ask the questions: What do youth believe makes a healthy community? How does Canada’s Public Health Care System work? What does private participation in health care mean for public health?Youth will learn how to take action to ensure health care is accessible for all. Health care made fun (finally!)

This workshop is a valuable tool to raise the vital voices of youth in the movement to strengthen and protect Canada’s public health care system. We will explore:

• What is Health Care and why is it so important?
• Who pays for health care and how much would health services cost in the absence of public health care?
• Health care as a right to all people
• The impact of for-profit involvement on our current system
• What youth can do to take proactive steps toward the good health of their communities?

There are many questions about what’s best for Canada’s health care system, yet there is little youth-accessible information and opportunities for youth-based dialogue on this issue. Our new health care workshop provides a space for much-needed youth-to-youth education on Canada’s public health care system.
